Rebecca’s interests are taxation and international business law. Her undergraduate Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree and her work experience sparked this interest, and she wanted to be able to grow her knowledge in these areas while pursuing her Master of Laws (LLM).
The International Business Law track allowed her to focus on the topics most relevant to her career plans while she expanded her overall understanding of the U.S. legal system. This has better prepared her to work with clients based in the United States.
What ultimately led you to enroll in Northeastern’s online LLM program?
The flexibility of the program, which allowed me to study while balancing other commitments.
What previous experience did you have in the legal industry that sparked your interest in Northeastern’s online LLM degree?
I had an interest in international business law, specifically tax law, that stemmed from my undergraduate LLB and my work experience.
What about the online format appealed to you?
The asynchronous format, which meant I did not need to align with U.S. time zones for classes. I could log in and work on the course content whenever I want. For some courses, there was the option to move ahead with content beyond the weekly requirements.
How did the curriculum in the online LLM program prepare you for future success in the legal industry?
The International Business Law track allowed me to learn about U.S. business structures, mergers and acquisitions, and tax rules, which will be helpful while working with U.S. clients in the future.
