Our 100% online program was designed to help internationally trained attorneys gain foundational knowledge of the ever-changing U.S. legal environment and to help U.S. trained lawyers gain specialized expertise. In addition, both international and domestic lawyers have access to our California bar exam preparation path of study.
Taught by expert faculty with experience as practicing lawyers, Northeastern Law’s online LLM program allows you to virtually engage in dynamic interactions on a wide range of issues, including intellectual property, technology, privacy, and international business. Here, you can shape your own experiences, drawing from a wide range of industry-informed courses.
Complete the program in as little as 12 months, with full-time and part-time options available.
The program features three distinct tracks:
- The Intellectual Property and Technology track prepares attorneys for more specialized roles such as in-house counsel, IP licensing counsel and privacy counsel.
- The International Business track is unique to Northeastern and prepares domestic attorneys and international law graduates for jobs as international business lawyers, trade lawyers and compliance counsel.
- The Bar Examination track prepares recent law school graduates, international lawyers and law graduates and domestic attorneys who are preparing for the California bar exam*.
*Other jurisdictions may qualify. Students are responsible for determining what is required for admission into a particular bar exam.
LLM students also have the unparalleled opportunity to participate in an optional one-week California Legal Immersion Summer Experience. As part of this experience, you’ll visit legal and governmental organizations in the San Francisco Bay area and gain real-world insights from legal leaders relating to the interplay among law, technology and government. In addition, the trip serves as a networking opportunity with fellow LLM peers and Northeastern University School of Law faculty.
